Sean Molloy, Avertana

In 2012, three engineers and entrepreneurs saw an opportunity to convert existing industrial waste into valuable raw materials. Avertana’s initial focus is waste ‘slag’ from steel manufacturing. Its innovative extraction technology turns the slag into valuable titanium dioxide, alum, Epson salts and gypsum. These raw materials are used to manufacture everyday products like paint, building materials, paper and fertilisers.
