Wine-Searcher

Julian (Jules) considers himself a software and systems engineer having started coding, and hacking, aged 12.  He left a sponsored place at University in 1983 after a seemingly pointless term and worked for a UK defence contractor – where he first found the Internet in 1985 - and then to Hewlett-Packard Laboratories.  In the early 90’s attracted by good money in London he joined the freelance IT contractor community and then in 1995 started a business building and hosting websites.  The websites somehow seemed to relate to cars and wine – things he enjoys, separately.

Wine-Searcher was started by Martin Brown in 1999 and Jules business developed and hosted the web technology from the start.  Wine-Searcher built a dominant position in the online wine and spirits industry and Martin asked Jules to become CEO and move to Auckland in 2018.  He continues as CEO following the sale of Wine-Searcher to Flaviar Inc.
